This blog features short fiction about the life of a family who happens to have an autistic child.
I hope you will get something from this site, especially if you are also a parent, maybe of a special child. Stories can’t cure or fix our fate as a family, but for me they have made it easier to endure it.
Anyway, my stories are usually, but not always, about Carrie (the mother) and Jon (the father), and events that took place for them in the mid-2010s in Yuma in the U.S. South-West.

Carrie and Jon’s autistic son is Michael (born in 2008), and he has a big sister, Emma (born in 2006), and I will have stories from their POV, too.
There will also be stories about the future, or how I imagine / hope / fear it will be – specifically with focus on Michael as he comes of age and grows into adulthood.
As a bonus there are stories about grandparents, brothers, steps, in-laws, friends, etc., as well, but they all link to the Reese-family, one way or another.
You can see a complete list of characters here.
As you may have guessed, I am the parent of an autistic child myself, but I am also a writer and I wanted a place specifically for my stories about this part of life.
Should you have any questions feel free to drop a comment or write to chris AT shadeofthemorningsun DOT com.
Lastly, if you have ideas for a story—perhaps based on something you have experienced yourself, you are also very welcome to reach out.
Blessings to you and your family.
