My stepfather said to me today that if I wasn’t always looking a gifthorse in the mouth, I could have come much further in life.

And of course that pissed me off royally, especially because he knows how I feel about his company, his Church and all the rest.

We can’t just change who we are on a dime, every time someone promises a bag of gold.

Or in this case a job which sure as hell wasn’t necessary if it wasn’t made for me.

Or perhaps some people can change at will and that’s why they get ahead in life, like my stepfather … and unlike me?

And maybe it’s not always a bad thing.

But if you do feel bad about that bag of gold … how do you know when it’s the right time to say yes, anyway?
